Sadly, this mouse is not made out of real gold bullion, which would have made it completely insane, but it does go well with your fake gold USB hub and gold PC.

Posted by Blog world | 9:04 AM | Gun | 0 comments »
Was Deckard really a replicant? Who cares, his blaster's for sale.
Yup, just a mere $100,000 to $150,000 and this one-of-a-kind movie prop could be yours, although we imagine that price tag is going to climb a bit higher before all is said and done at the Auctioneer Profiles in History event beginning April 30.
Other classic movie items up for auction include a ring worn by Bela Lugosi when he played Count Dracula; a monocle used in the Fritz Lang's 1927 sci-fi movie "Metropolis"; and Rita Hayworth's dress from 1940's film noir classic "Gilda."
It's truly an eclectic collection of items that, if combined, would have probably confused Harrison Ford's character even more. [Reuters]
Novague 'Move Your Energy' Rocking Chair Powers Its Own Bright Idea
Posted by Blog world | 9:00 AM | Energy' Rocking Chair | 0 comments »
At first glance, the Novague concept is a slick update to the timeless rocking chair. But housed in the base is a kinetic motor that powers an LED light using the chair's natural rocking motion.
Sure, this one doesn't have a pair of nuts, but it'd be self-sustainable if it ever leaped from the drawing board.
Note: Realistically, this chair would be more work than it's worth, given the amount of rocking one would have to do to keep that LED lit long enough to read a pamphlet, let alone something a bit more meaty. Like something on a Kindle 2, for example, because it doesn't have a backlight. [Dezeen]
Shots Leak of Lenovo Pocket Yoga Netbook, Looks Like it Actually Fits In a Pocket
Posted by Blog world | 8:42 PM | Laptops, Lenovo, notebooks | 0 comments »

Lenovo has let slip some official-looking (if not rendered) shots of a Vaio P-like netbook, the Pocket Yoga. And if the following photos are to be believed, its name is not an exaggeration.
Granted, this is a decidedly male back pocket and not the ass-hugging skinny jeans of Vaio P ad fame. And it still looks like it's filling that zone halfway between concept and actual product (as the actual concept sketches that accompany the shots on Lenovo's Flickr stream would seem to indicate) but it does look cool, with an ultra-widescreen, apparently touchscreen display that may be able to flip around into tablet mode.
Also, look at that crazy belt clasp system. According to one of the Flickr captions, that belt also turns into a mouse. Mind blown.
All we've got not are these shots, so we'll have to see what pops up in terms of concrete details. [Flickr via Electronista]
XCM Cross Fire Adapter Brings Dual Shock, Identity Crises to Xbox 360

On the opposite end of the fanboy self-loathing scale created by the PS3 XCM Cross Battle adapter is the Cross Fire. It brings Dual Shock controllers to the Xbox 360 (with turbo!).
Like its Cross Battle cousin, this adapter delivers the Dual Shock experience some gamers crave but cannot have on their Xbox 360 consoles. It also delivers, via an array of switches, custom turbo settings for every button on the controller.
Rumble is also supported, as well as a "tilt" switch, which we imagine is the Dual Shock's motion sensing functionality. So that's in there too, even if there aren't any Xbox 360 games that support such a feature. At the very least, you can't say the folks at XCM didn't cover all their bases with this thing.
Arrives in two weeks, with pricing that will probably be in line with the XCM Cross Battle adapter ($55). [SlashGear]
British Boy Embarks On "Electric Shock Free-For-All" With Bulgarian Stun Gun

If that headline didn't grab your attention, I don't know what will. A British 13-year-old smuggled a stun gun he bought on vacation into school, and proceeded to go a little zap-crazy.
The kid bought the gun for $15 while on vacation in Bulgaria, which makes Bulgaria sound like kind of a badass place to go on vacation, and smuggled the device (capable of up to 30,000 volts) into school. He zapped three of his classmates, apparently not realizing that assault with a weapon is actually against the law, and was arrested shortly thereafter.
It's kind of a scary story, since "stun gun" could all too easily be replaced with "real gun," and the results would be a lot worse. This particular gun is not very dangerous, certainly not strong enough to kill anybody, but he probably didn't know that. The kid apparently "feels sorry" for acting like a jackass, which is nice of him, I guess. But the real villain here is the nation of Bulgaria. What gives, guys? Do you not have regulated crowd control arms sales or something? [Mail Online]
Amazon Threatens Legal Action Against Those Increasing the Kindle's Usefulness
Posted by Blog world | 8:32 PM | Amazon | 0 comments »
Amazon recently threatened the smackdown on a site offering instructions on how to trick the Kindle into reading other types of files. This isn't a question of copyright infringement, it's a question of control.
Amazon invoked the decade-old Digital Millenium Copyright Act, or DMCA, as proof of the wrongdoing of a Russian hacker who discovered a way to view non-proprietary files on the Kindle. Interestingly, they went after a site that provided instructions on how to use the hack, rather than the personal site where the software is actually hosted. The software, kindlepid.py, allows e-books purchased legally from other stores to play nice with the Kindle, which admittedly screws Amazon's gameplan a bit. But should Amazon really be able to sue someone for increasing the functionality of their device? We're conflicted. [Mobile Read via CNET]

Google Mars is officially showing live updates from the surface of the angry planet. Google issued this mysterious statement today: "We are entering uncharted territory."
Users can access the images from the Themis camera onboard the Mars Odyssey spacecraft, as well as older images from up to a century ago. You can explore the surface, watch for orbiters, and wonder exactly where the little green men are hiding. Go check it out, this is very cool. [Google Mars via The Telegraph UK]
EV-o RR Electric Motorcycle Can Kick Your Gas Guzzler's Butt

In preparation for the zero-emissions grand prix, Evo Design Solutions has this fearsome electric superbike, fast enough and tough enough to challenge the old-school gas models.
Evo Design Solutions used a couple design tricks to allow room for the bike's large battery, including a monocoque that encloses the drivetrain, which negates the need for a frame. Bikes in this category easily break the 4-second mark in a 0-60mph, so these aren't electric toys. As for this particular model, it'll be sold for less than 20,000 pounds (about $28,000 USD), and there are no immediate plans for mass production, though that may change if it's a big hit. Mostly, we're just impressed with how pretty it is. Just look at it! [Wired]
Facebook Connect for iPhone Games Lets Everyone Know You're Not Really Working
Posted by Blog world | 8:20 PM | Facebook, iphone | 0 comments »
A bunch of iPhone games, among them the destructively awesome Tap Tap Revenge 2, have received updates to include Facebook Connect functionality. What does that mean for you? Networking. Delicious networking.
Facebook Connect allows you to link your game, with all its scores and stats, to your Facebook account, which in turn lets you connect to other people who are playing the game. You'll be able to share your high score, see which friend is playing which game, and, as always, block your boss from seeing exactly what you're up to during work hours.
Facebook Connect for iPhone went live today, and several games are taking advantage (see the full list here]). Commence timewasting. [Facebook]
New iPod Shuffle Moves Buttons to Headphones, Adds Text to Speech
Posted by Blog world | 9:22 PM | apple, iPod Shuffle | 0 comments »

Apple has quietly released a new iPod Shuffle design that mimics the original's pack of gum aesthetics. It costs $80, holds 4GB of songs, uses inline controls and boasts text-to-speech.
• 4GB or 1,000 Songs
• Silver or black color options, stainless steel clip
• Controls have been moved to the earbud line
• "VoiceOver" Text to speech artist and track names and battery life in 14 languages
• 10 hours of playback (Down from 12 hours in previous gen)
• The 1GB, 2nd gen iPod shuffle is still around for $50
So what do you think? Is this design better than the last iPod Shuffle? Personally, I really dislike that the new form costs users 2 hours of battery life.
The Draganflyer X6 UAV Police Edition

The Draganflyer X6 has been around for a bit now, but only recently have Canadian law enforcers begun using it to serve and protect. Here's the first look at these flying UAVs in uniform.
The X6 is a spy drone with wireless video and still cameras (in hi-def, infra-red and 0 lux flavors) that can fly autonomously, or as a remote-controlled bot. It has 11 sensors (including gyros, accelerometers, barometers, magnetometers and GPS) and is so easy to pilot, a Wii gamer could do it. Now it will be used by the Ontario Provincial Police and the Saskatoon Police to patrol crime scenes and help gather evidence.
At it's core, this is the same Draganflyer X6 we've come to know and love in the past, but now with a shiny police badge and a healthy distaste for crime. Canadian perps, be afraid. Be very, very afraid. [Draganfly]
Tramontana R-Editon: Some F1 Racer Knocked Up a Jet

The Tramontana R-Editon, an F1/jet hybrid, is not some fantasy rendering. It's a real vehicle you can buy right now.
This 720HP vehicle is the product of fiery, diesel-loving Spaniards. (It's pretty much the exact car I'd imagine our own Jesus Diaz designing.) Powered by a V12 engine, the Tramontana R-Edition goes from 0-60 in 3.6 seconds. And much of the vehicle, including the chassis, body, that fighter jet cockpit and its rims, are constructed of carbon fiber.
In other words, it's a steal at $500,000, the R-Edition's going price. And hey, if you can't afford the payments, chances are that you could outrun the authorities.
Microsoft Notebook Cooling Base Could Be Cooler

Microsoft has decided to conquer the exciting world of notebook accessories! And their first product in this "new notebook accessories category" is the Notebook Cooling Case!
Suitable for both desks and laps and said to fit all laptops, the Cooling Case is 1.16 inches thick, but it still manages to squeeze a USB-powered fan into the design! The Cooling Case will be available this July for $30 in both white and black!
Microsoft, I did my best to get excited about this thing...it's just so typical Chinese OEM! [Microsoft]
This Is the World's Most Advanced Bike and it Has an On-Board Computer

BERU's Factor 001 is scheduled to be unveiled next week in the UK, and purportedly has GPS, motorsport-grade sensors and a radio transmitter, which all go back to an on-board computer.
Gizmag says the Factor 001 can collect various bits of info, such as ergonometric, biometric, physical force and environmental data, then take all that and analyze it in ways to help the rider's performance. BERU normally works on F1 components, so the bike was designed entirely in-house by F1 engineers using F1-grade materials.
The bike weighs under 7kg, and comes with other advanced features such as ceramic brakes. All the components and wiring are integrated into the composite carbon-fiber frame during manufacturing, which make the bike appear simple on the outside.
However, if the aforementioned specs weren't enough, the price definitely reveals it's anything but simple. With a pricetag of 20,000 GBP, very few people will be able to afford the BERU Factor 001. [Factor 001 via Gizmag]
